Some new pictures since I've posted last. We've got new whale watching pictures, Bronwen skiing for her first time, and an easter pictures, and two pictures of my dogs. Whale watching this time was great. We got to see many humpbacks actually jumping completely out of the water. It was amazing. Hard to get pictures of though, the best I got was a big splash.
We took a little mini vacation to Monterey Bay this weekend. I went to a nursing conference and took the family along. We decided to go whale watching, well Bronwen and I did, Dan gets seasick so we left him at the hotel. We had a good time. We saw five humpback whales, and multiple Risso dolphins. I got video of the whales but I'm having a hard time getting it online.
Bronwen and I went camping in August with some friends who were nice enough to invite us along. Here are just a few of the pictures I took. The top right one is Bronwen and Kim inside the driftwood house. I'm not sure what Kim did to deserve the look she's getting. The second one down on the right is Bronwen climbing a tree (yes I was nervous), with my friends son David below her ready to catch her if she fell. The bottom one on the right is a photo of a driftwood house at a beach near the camp ground. The top left one is Bronwen river walking at the campground. The middle left is Kim, Ron and David on a bridge over the creek. The bottom left is Bronwen and Ron, playing in the river that goes into the ocean.
We had a marvelous time and would love to go camping with them again. The only think bad to occur was that I had to get my car towed to Sebastopol from the camp ground because it wouldn't start. Quite the hassle considering we had no cell coverage and the nearest auto shop was over an hour drive away. Luckily it turned out to be nothing. Next time I'll check the battery cables on the truck a bit more carefully :).
We visited the Baltimore/D.C. area April 9th-16th to see family and visit the nations capitol. A good time was had by all. Bronwen had a blast spending time with her grandmother and her cousin Zoe. She also had fun seeing things she had only seen in pictures and on TV. We were exhausted by all the walking but it was fun. At least it was fun until I came down with the plague (strep throat) on Saturday. It was very nice to have some family around that was able to entertain Bronwen on Sunday while I visited an urgent care clinic. I kind of like having family close by. We really had a nice time.
We spent a day in SF last weekend. Among the things we got to see and do. The Amgen Tour of California was doing their time trials starting at the Ferry Building. We got there just in time to see Levi take off. http://www.amgentourofcalifornia.com/race-live/videos/prologue-videos.html for video of the race. We got to feed the wild parrots of telegraph hill. A book was written about them. We were just lucky that we happened to be walking by the park when they were there. We rode the cable car up to the top of Nob Hill and back down again. We got to walk through Chinatown. All in all it was a very nice day, and not once did we need a jacket.
Bronwen choose to participate in this years talent show. She choose to do comedy. I didn't get the entire show because I'm an idiot but here is what I did get. She did great.
This is Bronwen at her first climbing competion. She did very well but did not place. She has decided that she likes it after worrying and fretting over it for the past two months. Now she wants to go to the rock gym more often and work on bouldering which she never liked before. Had she done better at bouldering she would have placed easily. I'm very proud of her.
